Annual Chili Cook/ Dessert Auction Results...

You know that butterfly feeling that you get in your tummy when you're nervous? Who would think that a ward activity could create that... How silly does it sound that tonight as I was waiting to see how much my desserts would sell for at our annual ward activity that I had butterflies in my stomach.
I decided to make two cakes because I came up with the creative idea of making a cake that looked like a crockpot full of chili but I wasn't sure how well it would sell, so I made a pretty one too. It was pretty crazy how much people are willing to spend! Jared and I wanted to "win" babysitting, lets just say that we didn't get a babysitter, and we didn't get a dessert either. I have to admit that I'm a little bummed, even though I probably wouldn't even have eaten the dessert.
I ended up making over $150 for the ward Y.W./ Y.M. but for some reason I'm not satisfied... maybe it's because I'm tired and my house is messy, and Jared is away watching the Jazz play (I sure hope they win tonight!!) BUT, I did have fun making the cakes and now I have more ideas to add to my portfolio. I really really like the purple flower cake. I think it is one of my favorite cakes I've made. Someday I'll make cakes professionally, but until then, practice makes perfect :)

Aw- that is so pretty Jen- and I LOVE the crockpot cake! Whata fabulous idea! Okay, I have fun making cakes for my kids birthdays too but I need to work on the pretty stuff. Go look at my cakes at http://pancakesandpinesol.blogspot.com/2008/02/cakes-cakes-cakes.html

By the way- that is a great site of some wonderful women and it's open to anyone to join in if you want to! I want to see some more of your cakes! Have you taken any classes? I think that's what I need to learn how to do the pretty stuff. I have a book but the kids haven't wanted anything pretty yet so I just keep doing the ones you carve out, lol. Let's talk cakes!

I don't know why you aren't happy with the results! I think that you are wonderful and that it is great that you earned so much for your ward! We need to do something like that in our ward! I loved you earth day cake also, you really should bake cakes professionally! Hang in there things can only look up!

Dear Jen,
Wow!!!! 150 dollars is great. I have never come close to match that!!! You are great to have such talent and you will are great for your gifts and artistry in the kitchen.
I wish I were closer, so I could come and see those little ones. After May, John and I will be moving to Lindon 495 North, 200 East. We will be on a "ranch style" home with pasture in the front It will be great when you come to visit because there will be a nice guest room for you and the children. 6 bedrooms, one for dad's library and study, one for our computer and family history. I even have a walk in pantry which is so neat. It is 20 years old and it will help us to get out of debt. We will be moving in June. What will I do without Jared's muscles?
Love MOM
